PSHE in Action

At Elmsleigh, we are passionate about the personal development of our children. We want our curriculum and our school’s wider work to develop resilient, confident and independent learners, who are both physically and mentally healthy.  We are so proud of our Elmsleigh children and the ways they contribute so positively to the life of our school. Here are some of the ways they have done that:

In line with our British Value of Democracy, the children have taken part in a whole school vote, where the children actively voted for the colour of our Kindness Captain Caps (to replace our initial white ones, which got quite dirty!). The winning cap was then created as a result!

After the success of our Wall of Kindness, during Anti- Bullying Week and in conjunction with our next British Value, Tolerance and Respect, we launched our next Kindness initiative: Kindness Catchers. The children were tasked to ‘catch’ any acts of kindness that they saw and to record them and put them in the Kindness Catcher. If the children caught 20 acts of kindness during the week, they were given a Kindness Code to break and…if they broke the code they won a prise for their class!

During Anti-Bullying Week, we interviewed our KS1 children for the role of Kindness Captains and chose four super-kind children to take up the role and wear our newly voted for caps.

During the Autumn term, we also supported World Mental Health Day by dressing in yellow. Each class learnt about the importance of looking after our mental health and the things we can do to help others have a positive mental health.
